Australia will play Japan in the southwestern city of Oita on Oct. 23 on its way to Britain for a three-test rugby tour against Scotland, England and Wales.

Rugby Australia said Saturday it will be the Wallabies’ first match against Japan since November 2017 when they defeated the hosts 63-30 at Yokohama. The teams have played seven times since their first match in 1975 at the Sydney Cricket Ground,

Wallabies captain Michael Hooper says he hopes there will be regular test matches against Japan and the country’s possible entry into the Rugby Championship. He said the October match was a step forward between the countries that should be playing each other more often, with their entry alongside South Africa, Argentina and New Zealand in the Rugby Championship worth consideration.

“Japan rugby’s got a lot to offer . . . it’s got a lot of really good players up there,” Hooper, who played alongside former New Zealand skipper Kieran Read for Toyota Verblitz last season, said Friday.

“It may become a significant fixture for us each year and that’s great. It’d be great to have Japan involved in some capacity.”

The Oita test will be Japan’s first at home since hosting the 2019 World Cup. wallabies england rugby online tv

“It is a hugely important moment for us to reconnect with our fans and the wider Japanese public, following the success of the World Cup,” Japan coach and former All Black player Jamie Joseph said.

The Wallabies will play Scotland on Nov. 7 at Murrayfield, England on Nov. 13 at Twickenham and Wales on Nov. 20 at Cardiff.

Cooper keen to be on Wallabies spring tour despite possible roadblock

Quade Cooper hopes he will be granted permission by his Japanese club to be a part of Australia’s end-of-year spring tour and, despite his latest Wallabies comeback, says he is happy to be based overseas in coming years. watch England vs Wallabies

Australia’s final Tests of 2021 were confirmed on Friday, with the Wallabies set to face Japan in Oita on October 23, before a trip to the northern hemisphere for Tests against Scotland (November 7), England (November 13) and Wales (November 20) across the UK.

It is the first time the Wallabies will have played Japan since 2017, when they beat Jamie Joseph’s side 63-30, and the first time the team has returned to Oita Stadium - the venue where they lost a World Cup quarter-final to England two years ago.

“We’re really looking forward to squaring off against Japan,” said Wallabies coach Dave Rennie. “They showed everyone at the World Cup in 2019 that they are a top nation and can match it with the best.”

Rennie is expected to have more overseas-based players at his disposal for the spring tour as the Wallabies leave some players in Australia to complete a pre-season before joining their Super Rugby squads.

One of those players could be Cooper, who will get his second chance in as many weeks this Saturday to help the Wallabies defeat South Africa after booting a match-winning penalty after the siren last week in arguably his finest moment at Test level. wallabies england rugby

Wallabies’ 2021 spring tour schedule (all times AEST)

Japan v Wallabies at Oita Stadium, October 23, 3.45pm

Scotland v Wallabies at Murrayfield, November 8, 1.15am

England v Wallabies at Twickenham, November 14, 4.30am

Wales v Wallabies at Principality Stadium, November 21, 5.30am

Cooper was dropped by Michael Cheika in July 2017 and hasn’t been on a spring tour since 2016 but is eager, if granted permission, to head on a tour that will stop off first in Japan.

“The tour to Europe was always going to be in place but that’s up to my club and the coaching staff if they want me to go,” Cooper told the Herald. “The clubs have been very accommodating. We’re not getting paid from Australia. Our clubs are paying for us and they’ve been very supportive of us being over here and representing our country. I’m representing Kintetsu when I run out onto the field.”

Hopes that Cooper could be lured back to play Super Rugby appear to be dashed, with the 33-year-old saying he is fully committed to remaining in Japan. He wants to serve out the remainder of his deal that runs until 2023.

“I’m very happy in Japan,” Cooper said. “I’ve been very fortunate with being able to live in a great city in a great team. I think we’ve lost one game in the two years I’ve been there.

“There are challenges that Japan has, such as the language and being away from family, but I’ve been in places where everything is very comfortable and that’s a different challenge in itself. I’m enjoying Japan and look forward to getting back there.”

Cooper’s excellent showing in Australia’s 28-26 victory over the Springboks has breathed life back into the Wallabies’ Rugby Championship campaign.

The 71-Test stalwart returns to Suncorp Stadium for the first time in more than four years at Test level.

Cooper was inundated with messages of support after his 23-point haul against South Africa.

Did the response surprise him?

“You never foresee the way anything is going to turn out,” Cooper said. “After the game there’s probably a whole chunk of people who didn’t know who I was. Wallabies vs England live streaming

“I was by the pool and doing recovery. There was a young kid wearing a Wallabies jersey and he said ‘oh Quade, you’re now my favourite player’. The word that struck me was ‘now’.

“He went onto say ‘I didn’t know who you were before last night’. He was eight. When I last played for Australia he was four. It was a great moment and I enjoyed it because I was able to be part of a moment that someone else really enjoyed.”

England confirm 2021 fixtures against Wallabies and Springboks

England will welcome Australia and World Cup champions South Africa to Twickenham as part of their 2021 Autumn Internationals series next November. The RFU have announced the two fixtures this morning, with a third, to be played against an emerging nation, to be confirmed at a later date. ENG v AUS rugby

Eddie Jones’ squad will begin their Autumn 2021 Test schedule against an emerging nation on Sunday November 6, before welcoming the Wallabies to Twickenham a week later. It will be the eighth time England have faced Australia under head coach Jones and the fourth time on home soil.

England will then finish the window with a rematch of last year’s World Cup final as the Springboks come to London for the first time since 2018. England vs Wallabies live

The game will be the last leg of the Springboks’ three-match tour of Europe in November 2021. Last week it was confirmed that South Africa will play Scotland on 13 November in Edinburgh, a week before the Twickenham Test, with an opening Autumn Test fixture yet to be announced.

England head coach Eddie Jones said: “These will be some good games of rugby and tough tests for us as we work to improve ourselves as a team.

“South Africa are world champions and we’ll be looking to benchmark ourselves against them.

“Australia are rapidly improving, have a lot of new talent coming through and good coaches like Dave Rennie and Scott Wisemantel, who we know well.

“We’ve not had the chance to play southern hemisphere teams this year, so it will be a good chance to see where we are up to and hopefully some great rugby for our supporters to enjoy.”

South Africa coach Rassie Erasmus said the two countries share a special rivalry.

“Any match involving England and the Springboks is always special,” Erasmus said.

“England are an incredibly proud rugby nation and in Eddie Jones they have an astute coach who will no doubt be working on a plan to outsmart the Springboks for our rematch at Twickenham.

“The history and rivalry between our two countries always make for a great contest and we are looking forward to play the English at their Twickenham fortress where it will require a special performance to match them.” England vs Wallabies rugby 2021

The RFU are hoping to be in a position to release ticket information early in the New Year, and the dates of all three fixtures are subject to confirmation.
